The Content Marketing Roadmap
Follow these steps to grow your business using content marketing
Happy Friday 👋
In this edition of Lucid Insights, we are going to run through a road less traveled. That is, the road to creating a content marketing acquisition system that generates, nurtures, and converts leads into customers.
SPOILER
This takes time…
But if you’re willing to stick around, the results will speak for themselves.
Let’s jump in.
Whether you are just getting started or you’ve already invested time and money into a content marketing strategy, you’re in the right place.
Now, before you get too far, here’s something that you need to remember.
Content = Value
Just how valuable is it? Well, that’s up to you to decide.
Obviously, there is a lot of lousy content out there. And most of what you see on social media serves only one purpose…
To keep you entertained enough so that you continue to spend more and more of your time on said channel.
But when it comes to business, how do we capture people’s attention? How do we get someone to stop scrolling and pay attention to what we have to say?
The answer is right above this…
By providing value!
Your product, service, and business as a whole should exist to solve a specific problem for a specific group of people. That is Business 101. (A topic for another day)
For now, let’s look at how you can develop a specific roadmap that turns your organic content into a fully-optimized sales funnel.
Step 1: Start Posting
WARNING!
This is stating the obvious…but still needs to be said.
In order to grow an audience and increase sales through your content channels, the first thing you need to focus on is…
Drumroll
Posting! Duh.

All jokes aside this is actually something that people struggle with, and if that is something that you relate to, that’s okay!
If you feel overwhelmed by starting, follow these steps
Choose a Channel
It can be tempting to think that you need to be everywhere at once, but that is a short route to burnout. Pick a channel that you are familiar with (ideally one that your audience frequently visits) and focus your efforts there. The rest will come later
Make a list of your USPs (Unique Selling Propositions)
Make a list of at least 3-5 of your USPs. This is what you are going to be posting about. It should clearly tell people who you are, what problem you solve, and how you do so. (Pro tip: Don’t just focus on the features/benefits of your product or service. Try to educate people and/or entertain people. Overtime this will feel more natural)
Post it!
Once you have created some well-thought-out, high-quality content, it’s time to let the world know.
Step 2: Post Consistently
This is arguably the most important step and it comes with a harsh reality….
Most people will mess it up.
If you’re someone who wants to see some ROI from the information you provide the world then you MUST commit yourself to this….
Consistency.
It’s one of the most powerful habits that anyone can have, and yet it is where most people fail.
So if you’re in it for the long haul, take our advice.
Pick one day of the week that you will post on your chosen channel.
Post on that same day, forever.
Everything else is a work in progress that will improve over time, but if you don’t stay consistent, you will never give yourself the chance to find your voice and attract a loyal audience.
Step 3: Rinse and Repeat
Once you have committed yourself to creating and publishing on a regular schedule, it’s time to rinse and repeat.
Branch out to another platform, and repurpose your original content into the appropriate format.
The beauty is that you won’t have to spend so much time developing. You’re just taking what you’ve already said and posting it to another channel.
Repeat this until you are posting on every platform where you feel there is potential for return.
Step 4: Increase Output
At this point, you’re ready to crank it up a notch.
By now you should have formed good habits and should be posting on a regular cadence across all of your chosen platforms.
So where do you go from here?
It’s time to increase your publishing frequency.
Keep in mind, every channel is a little bit different.
It’s up to you to determine the maximum amount of posts you can make without overwhelming your audience.
By increasing your frequency of posts you are giving yourself the best chance at staying top of mind with your followers.
Understand that this will require a lot of time investment.
If you find yourself struggling to keep up with the content output, consider finding someone like ourselves, here at Lucid.
We help businesses achieve their marketing goals by scaling content production.
This not only increases the amount of leverage you have to convert your audience into paying customers but will also save you valuable time so that you can focus on other key areas of your business.
Step 5: Analyze the Results
The final step in the process can actually be applied to every stage you find yourself in.
That is to track and analyze the results.
The best marketers and entrepreneurs possess this very valuable skill.
That is the ability to be flexible and make any necessary adjustments to improve the effectiveness of your marketing strategy.
In time, you will begin to notice trends like
What types of content your audience loves
What channels provide the most ROI
What problems your audience struggles with the most
The ideal publishing frequency
With this knowledge, you will be able to spend more time on the actions that provide the most ROI.
And your audience will thank you for it 😊
